Outside of work, I’m drawn to nature and landscapes, good food, and a really good cup of coffee. I love hiking - a recent Havasupai trip was a milestone, equal parts exhausting and magical. Being outdoors keeps me curious and grounded.

When I’m not outside, I’m usually at home with my two cats, who firmly believe the world is best experienced from indoors. We spend a lot of time doing nothing together.

I enjoy creating art, especially with graphite, charcoal, and watercolors. Lately, I’ve been obsessed with playing Ticket to Ride. I’m also a Studio Ghibli fan, love trying new cuisines, and will never say no to ramen. I collect fragrances too - a small weakness I justify as appreciating how scent can evoke memory and emotion.

Lately, I’ve also been learning American Sign Language - partly out of curiosity, and partly because accessibility is something I care about beyond just designing for it.

How has teaching shaped how I design?

Teaching taught me that clarity is a responsibility. Explaining design decisions forced me to be more intentional and honest about my choices. It also shaped how I lead-creating space for others to think differently while staying grounded in shared understanding.

What do I care about more than trends?

Intent. A feature should exist for a reason, not because it’s popular. I’m more interested in why something needs to exist than how flashy it looks.

What influences my design thinking outside of UX?

Art, animation, and visual storytelling. Before UX, I was an animator-trained to think in rhythm, hierarchy, and emotion: how something moves, pauses, and lands. That lens still shapes how I design digital experiences today.
